2006 Angelus films being screened at University of Notre Dame The Golden Dome

The Angelus Student Film Festival has gone to the Golden Dome, the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind. "Angelus Film Series at Notre Dame," at 7 p.m. March 8, is being sponsored by the university's Center for Ethics and Culture. The Peter Glenville Foundation, a sponsor of the Angelus Student Film Festival, also is helping sponsor this event.Following the screening of four of the 2006 Angelus winning films, Monika Moreno, Family Theater Productions' Director of the Angelus Student Film Festival, is facilitating a question-and-answer session between the filmmakers or their representative and the audience.
The films being screened and the participating filmmakers are:
The Trojan Cow, Barbara Stepansky of the American Film Institute, Los Angeles, winner of the $10,000 Excellence in Filmmaking Award in honor of Servant of God Father Patrick Peyton, CSC. It is the story of two teenagers' attempt in 1973 to be illegally transported inside a hollow cow across the East German border to freedom.
Queen of Cactus Cove, Anna Christopher of AFI, winner of the $5,000 Priddy Bros. Triumph Award. Teenage chess champ Billie faces the prospect of defeat for the first time when she competes against her best friend at the biggest chess tournament of her career
Kilroy Was Here, its lead actor Keith Harris representing the filmmaker Charlie Boyles, North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem, winner of the $2,500 Fujifilm Audience Impact Award and the $1,500 Act One Screenplay prize. In the film, the characters fought for different causes in the same war. Now together, they will forge a connection that transcends language ... and their cause will become one.
Silence, Octavio Warnock-Graham, City College of New York, winner of the $3,000 Outstanding Documentary Award, sponsored by Maryknoll Productions. This is an intimate personal journey by the filmmaker to find the one person who can complete his search for answers ... his biological father.

Family Theater Productions created the Angelus Student Film Festival in 1996 to cultivate, honor and showcase future filmmakers as they explore and create works that respect the dignity of the human person. The 11th annual festival was held Oct. 21 at the Directors Guild of America, Hollywood. In January, three winning Angelus films were screened during the Windrider Forum, held during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
