Angelus’ congratulates Gregg Helvey for ‘Kavi’s Oscar nomination

Kavi, Angelus Student Film Festival’s 2009 “Triumph of the Spirit Award” winner was nominated in the Best Live Action Short category for the 2010 Oscar race. Academy Awards nominees were announced Feb. 2.Filmmaker Gregg Helvey just returned from a week at Sundance with Angelus filmmakers and team.
“We are thrilled yet not surprised at the nomination. Gregg and his team deserve a hearty congratulations said Monika Moreno, Angelus’ director.
“Kavi” is the story of an boy in India who is forced to work as a modern-day slave in a brick kiln. He must choose to either accept what he's always been told or fight for a different life.
Last year “On the Line,” by Reto Caffi, the 2008 Angelus grand-prize winner, received an Oscar nomination for Live Action Short Film.
