Oscar News from Angelus!
First, Federico Fellini, now it’s Luke Matheny... (but with more hair).Celebrating at Angelus Headquarters!LUKE MATHEY, director of GOD OF LOVE, captured the ACADEMY AWARD last night for Best Live Action Short. Crazy! (But if you think we’re excited, you should talk to his mother. ) Now the whole world knows what we already knew, and we are so proud. By “we” I speak for the Angelus team, the best dang Festival Jurors in the world, sponsors, volunteers, friends, audience, fans, etc. GOD OF LOVE won the Angelus grand prize, 2010 Patrick Peyton Award for Excellence in Filmmaking last September. And then he was whisked to Sundance Film Festival via Windrider Forum, Priddy Brothers and Angelus. It was there, among heart shaped plates and champagne at the break of dawn, that Luke found out he was nominated. It has been a wild ride since for Luke, his amazing producers, family and crew. Check out his "thank-you cam" and his Angelus mention ...at about 1:15 seconds for the impatient. Luke and sixty of his closest friends including Mom, Dianne, many Angelus alumni and buds started the party early at Family Theater at our “NIGHT BEFORE OSCARS” party for Luke. Luke shared with the 70+ crowd that the Sat eve festivities was the most meaningful for him as he had the people who loved and supported him in the same room. ANGELUS ALUM included Joey Jones (The Little Red Plane - 2003), Greg Helvey (Kavi - 2009), John Patton Ford (Patrol - 2009), Harry Kellerman (The Little Gorilla - 2007) and Terrie Samundra (Kunjo, 2010).
